Intensive Moscow's Attacks Eliminate Power Throughout Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have faced increased strikes in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have led to power cuts in extensive areas of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were hurt while inhabitants in the city's east were left without electricity and encountered disruption to water systems, per reports from municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a minor was lost their life in a separate assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, based on information from regional authorities.

Moscow has intensified attacks on power infrastructure over recent weeks, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not window dressing but strong steps - from the US, the EU and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and applying restrictions," he wrote in a online statement.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and more than 30 rockets targeted energy facilities, characterizing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and repair crews were striving to restore power.

A series of attacks struck power facilities and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people injured in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to municipal representatives.

Regional authorities said the urban area endured significant strikes overnight. A minor lost their life and multiple civilians were injured.

The attacks succeed periods of bombing campaigns in the area, portions of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The entire country is on alert for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are tougher to identify.

Government officials told journalists that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the country's energy grid, with attacks already affecting energy systems.

Authorities confirmed energy workers and government agencies were preparing for further attacks.
